The expansion of the Salt Palace, Salt Lake City's convention center, opened in time for the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, the event for which the facility was enlarged. The center now offers 515,000 square feet of exhibit space and 164,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 45,000-square-foot ballroom. The Market, held Aug. 10-13, was the biggest ever, featuring 238 new exhibitors for a total of 967. The Outdoor Industry Association, which produces the show, was so pleased with the new space, the board of directors voted to bring the summer and winter markets back to Salt Lake City through 2010.
