Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants Group announced on July 19 that it will build new hotel in Sunny Isles, north of Miami Beach. The 250-room Sole on the Ocean Resort & Spa, Kimpton's first Florida property, will have a two-story lobby facing the ocean, an infinity pool, a spa, an Italian restaurant and event space. It will open February.

The Hilton Key West, Fla., Resort & Marina will become the Westin Key West Resort & Marina on July 31. The new managers will begin a two-year renovation immediately, although the hotel will remain open throughout. The property has 178 guest rooms and 10,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 3,850-square-foot ballroom.

The Hilton St. Petersburg Carillon Park in St. Petersburg, Fla., opened on July 21. The 227-room hotel has a restaurant and 16,000 square feet of meeting space, including the 9,265-square-foot Picasso Ballroom.

Last week, Delta Hotels announced that the Best Western Hospitality Inn in Calgary, Alberta, would be reflagged as the Delta Calgary South by this October. The 252-room property will undergo a US$2.6 million renovation focused on the event facilities. The hotel now features 15,000 square feet of meeting space, including a ballroom with capacity for 300 people, as well as four F&B outlets, a business center, a fitness center, two swimming pools and a 130-foot indoor waterslide.

Architectural drawings of a 283-suite Embassy Suites Hotel and an adjoining 80,000-square-foot conference center in Murfreesboro, Tenn., were revealed Tuesday. The all-suite luxury hotel and conference center are scheduled to open in spring 2008, with construction slated to begin Nov. 1.
