The National Business Travel Assocation announced record-breaking attendance for its International Convention and Exposition, which concludes tonight in Chicago. As of Monday morning, more than 5,200 people had registered, including 1,200 corporate travel buyers. Among the major announcements made by the association: NBTA has partnered with TTG Asia Media to offer the first China Corporate Travel & Technology World conference in Shanghai, April 22-24, 2007. More than 300 corporate travel buyers and suppliers from the United States, China and other countries in the Asia-Pacific region are expected to participate. In addition, NBTA will host a Mexico Corporate Travel Conference on Jan. 18, 2007, at the Gran Melia Mexico Reforma Hotel in Mexico City.

Michael S. Olson, executive vice president of SmithBucklin and former president and CEO of the American Society of Association Executives, will retire from the association management company in December 2007 to focus on volunteer efforts. The announcement was made 18 months in advance to allow time to find a replacement and encourage a smooth transition.
