Meeting Professionals International has hired Spencer Stuart, a global search firm, to work with the organization's search committee to find a new president/CEO. Lori Hortum of Spencer Stuart's Washington, D.C., office will be working with chairwoman Katie Callahan-Giobbi, senior vice president of sales for LA Inc., the Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the rest of the committee to find a replacement for Colin C. Rorrie Jr., Ph.D., CAE, who left MPI in March. The goal is to have a new president and CEO in place by July 1. "But we are not going to sacrifice the quality and caliber of this person [by rushing]," said Mark Andrew, CHA, CMP, the chair-elect of MPIÕs board of directors, who has taken a leave of absence from his job as general manager of the Westin Bayshore, Vancouver, British Columbia, to head up the organization's staff until a replacement can be found.
