On Dec. 28, Hilton Hotels Corp. announced the $65 million sale of the 600-room Anchorage Hilton to CP Anchorage 2 LLC, a company registered in Delaware. While the property will continue to be flagged as a Hilton as part of a 20-year franchise deal, the new ownership expects to spend $12 million on upgrades.

The $45 million restoration of the Hilton President Kansas City (Mo.) is complete, and an opening ceremony will be held on Jan. 11. The hotel has 213 guest rooms and 10,000 square feet of meeting space.

Ground has been broken on a $200 million Four Seasons Resort and Residences in Vail, Colo. The property will have 120 guest rooms, 16 residences, 19 fractional units and 11,000 square feet of meeting space in addition to a spa, a restaurant and retail shops. The target for opening is June 2008.

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts Inc. announced yesterday that it will manage a mixed-use development on North Caicos, in the Turks & Caicos islands. The resort community, to debut in 2009, will include a 150-room resort, a 150-room condo hotel, Fairmont-branded residential developments, a Willow Stream spa and a golf course.

Groundbreaking took place Dec. 19 on a new Emerson Inn & Spa, to open in July in Mt. Tremper, N.Y., in the Catskill Mountains. The new building will include 24 suites (to complement the 27 rooms at the nearby Lodge at Emerson Place), an expanded spa facility and meeting space. The new facility replaces the old Emerson Inn, destroyed by fire in April 2005 after earning a Mobil four-star rating for its spa.
