John Marks, president and CEO of the
San Francisco Convention & Visitors Bureau, will retire on June
30, after 18 years as president of the bureau and 37 years in the
tourism industry. Marks turns 65 in late May, though in a letter to
members, he wrote that the decision was based not on his age, but
on wanting to spend more time with his family. "I have no intention
of remaining idle," he also wrote. "I plan to put my experience and
contacts to good use, just not at a 60-hour-a-week pace."
