Independent planning firm Conferon Global Services has released attendance statistics for the more than 200 trade shows and association conventions serviced by the company's three arms -- ExpoExchange trade show, Conferon planning and ITS housing and travel services. Numbers rose 2.2 and 2.7 percent for 2003 and 2004, respectively, and the CGS Trade Show/Convention Attendance Index also shows 4.24 percent growth for the first quarter of 2005. "[These] events represent a wide cross-section of industries," said Bruce Harris, president of CGS. "There are clearly identifiable growth sectors as well as market segments that have struggled, but the breadth of the entire sample offers an accurate snapshot of heightened trade show and convention attendance."
