The International Association of Conference Centers has expanded its board. Philippe Attia, vice president of Operations Europe for Dolce International, has been added to make the board's mix more global.

The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education released its 2004 annual report last week. For the first time, direct spending on continuing medical education surpassed $2 billion. The total in 2004 was $2.04 billion, up from $1.77 billion in 2003.

The Business Partners Advisory Council of the International Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus (IACVB) issued a unanimous statement last week in support of IACVB's proposed name change to the Destination Marketing Association International. "We have all experienced first hand the confusion about the name and mission of CVBs. The new name goes a long way toward clarifying the core competitive advantage of IACVB and its members," said Shane Green, the council's chair. Member CVBs currently are voting on the proposal; the deadline is July 1.
