The Irving (Texas) Convention and Visitors Bureau is issuing requests for proposal to carry out three studies concerning the possibility of building a convention facility in the city. Part one would be an updated feasibility study for a 100,000-square-foot convention center (a previous plan currently is on hold); part two would identify and evaluate other options for an alternative public facility, with preliminary costs, to be compared with the originally proposed convention center; part three will study other ways to draw more visitors to town. "We are taking advantage of the opportunity to thoroughly re-evaluate our options for creating new visitor demand in Irving," said Maura Allen Gast, executive director of the ICVB. The reports are due next April.

EXPO XXI Cologne International Expocentre, a meeting and convention facility with 43,200 square feet of exhibit space, a conference center with three large meeting rooms and an event space, will open tomorrow in Cologne Germany.
