The 427-room Ritz-Carlton Golf & Spa Resort, Rose Hall, Jamaica, closed April 27 to repair damage sustained from heavy rains. The resort now will reopen to the public July 1.

The Hotel Dolce Villa, a 14-suite boutique hotel, opened Monday in Providence, R.I. The hotel features the Villa Tuscana, a separate building with private courtyards and one duplex suite that can be booked for private parties of up to 150 people.

The 288-room Houstonian Hotel, Club and Spa in Houston has added a $3 million aquatic center. The complex includes a large resort pool, a lap pool, a water slide and a shaded children's wading pool. The area also offers increased deck space, which can host up to 150 to 200 for a reception.

A top-to-bottom renovation has been completed at the 527-room Oriental, Singapore, managed by Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group. The hotel has 20,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space, including 13 meeting rooms and a ballroom for up to 600 people.

Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts has emerged from Chapter 11. Donald Trump remains chairman and CEO of the company. Earlier this year, the hotel-casino group announced that the Trump Taj Mahal will construct a 1,300-room tower (for a total of 2,500 rooms) and 70,000 square feet of new meeting space (for a total of 215,000 square feet). The company also is considering makeovers of the Taj's sister properties in Atlantic City, the 904-room Trump Plaza and 728-room Trump Marina.

The Hilton Villahermosa & Conference Center, adjacent to Mexico's Villahermosa International Airport in Villahermosa, opened on May 23. The 220-room property has a 44-room club level and 17 meeting rooms for up to 1,000 people.

Hilton Hotels Corp. will sell 11 properties by year-end, with cash proceeds going to buy back shares in the company. Analyst Marc Falcone at Deutsche Bank wrote in a recent investor research report that he expected the chain to announce the sale of its Chicago Palmer House hotel shortly, as well as others in the coming months. With the sale of the hotels, Hilton stands to raise as much as $500 to $800 million.

The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire has opened. The 2,500-square-foot facility has 15 treatment rooms and a fitness center. The 133-room hotel, in Dogmersfeld Park, England, opened in March.

Sofitel will open its second property in Dubai in 2007 with the 450-room Sofitel Jumeirah Beach Hotel & Resort, on the Palm Jumeirah, a man-made island project that will be finished next year. The hotel will be owned by Abu Dhabi National Hotels.
