Travel to the People's Republic of China is booming. According to the China edition of the HotelBenchmark Survey released this week by Deloitte, across China revenue per available room (RevPAR) jumped 18 percent over the past year, to US$70, during the first quarter of 2005. Likewise, according to the China National Tourist office, international visitors rose by 48 percent in 2004, to 17 million. The biggest winner was Beijing, where RevPAR rose 23.3 percent over 2004 and passengers passing through Beijing Capital International Airport increased by 18 percent.
