Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts has broken ground on a new resort on Boracay Island in the Philippines. To open in mid-2007, the beachfront resort will have 170 guest rooms and 50 villas, all with ocean views. Meeting space will include a 6,000-square-foot ballroom and an outdoor pavilion for up to 50 people.

The Hyatt on Capitol Square in Columbus, Ohio, has completed a $3.5 million renovation of all 400 rooms. Included in the upgrade was the addition of Hyatt's Grand Beds. The property offers 16,500 square feet of meeting space.

The Miraflores Park Hotel in Lima, Peru, has reopened following a $4.6 million renovation and expansion. The 81-suite property, owned by Orient-Express Hotels, Trains and Cruises, added a spa, a new restaurant and a fourth presidential suite.

The 472-room Crowne Plaza City Centre in Cleveland is Crowne Plaza's latest acquisition. The property, formerly the Sheraton City Centre, changed flags earlier this week and is scheduled to undergo a $2 million renovation by year-end. The property features 27,000 square feet of meeting space, including 20 meeting rooms and four ballrooms.

Best Western International's online booking site,,  now features property information in French, German, Italian and Spanish. In addition, its Asian properties all provide reservation web pages in simplified Chinese, Japanese and Korean. The chain's Internet bookings comprise 44 percent of all Best Western reservations across its 4,100 hotels in 80 countries.

The 154-room Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Holistic Retreat & Spa opened this weekend in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, next to the Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach. The new hotel has a seven-room Armonia Spa and meeting space for 200.
