The 966-room Adam's Mark Jacksonville was renamed the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront on April 1, with new management announcing a $10 million guest room renovation that will be completed early next year. The hotel, Hyatt's 12th property in Florida, offers 110,000 square feet of meeting space, including 30 meeting rooms and a 27,100-square-foot ballroom.

Hotel chain Outrigger broke ground April 1 on what it claims will be largest development ever in Waikiki, on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. The eight-acre Waikiki Beach Walk will include 90,000 square feet of restaurants, shops and entertainment venues; the 195-room Fairfield Hawaii at Waikiki Beach Walk; the 421-room Embassy Suites-Waikiki Beach Walk, which will be a complete renovation of the existing Ohana Waikiki Village and Ohana Waikiki Tower hotels, and the 700-room Outrigger Reef on the Beach hotel. The second and third phases of the project also will begin this year, and the whole plan will be finalized in late 2006.

The 335-room Ocean Edge Club & Resort on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, reopened April 1 following $5 million in renovations. Guest rooms, public spaces and golf grounds all have been reworked on the 429-acre property, and the 14,500 square feet of function space has been buttressed with a new 12-seat boardroom.

The former Sheraton Concord (Calif.) Hotel and Conference Center reopened today as the Crowne Plaza Concord. In San FranciscoÕs East Bay, the 324-room property offers 32,000 square feet of function space and is in the midst of a $2.5 million renovation, expected to wrap by the fourth quarter of this year.

NH Hoteles is flying its flag in London for the first time. The 200-room Harrington Hall Hotel opened this week in the city's exclusive Chelsea section. The property features 10 meeting rooms. NH Hoteles currently has 240 properties in 19 countries with 30 projects under development.

First came Westin's Heavenly Bed -- a sublime sleeping tool that Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has parlayed into a multimillion dollar "must have" item. Now comes the Four Points by Sheraton Comfort Bed. Yesterday, the latest luxury bed made its debut at 30 of the 100 Four Points by Sheraton U.S. properties. It will be rolled out across the entire portfolio by the end of this summer.
