The Business Travel Coalition
established a web blog on Monday to discuss airfare structure
simplification and help the travel industry prepare for change.
"The domestic U.S. airfare structure simplification initiative
introduced by Delta Air Lines is now industrywide, is expected to
stick, will likely evolve over coming weeks and months and could
have a profound impact on suppliers and distributors," according to
Kevin Mitchell, BTC chairman. BTC is encouranging all industry
participants to comment on potential implications from this
restructuring. The blog can be accessed at http://btcblog.typepad.com/travelblog/.
Beginning operations on Jan. 25 is the new International
Arrivals Building at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in
Houston. The new facility will be able to process about 4,500
passengers per hour and 190 bags per minute.
