Wyndham International has completed the sale of six hotels to Thayer Lodging Group. The properties include the 124-room Union Station in Birmingham, Ala.; the 320-room Wyndham Roanoke Airport, Va.; the 199-room Radisson Hotel in Dallas and the 172-room Holiday Inn Aristocrat Hotel in Dallas.

The 316-room Ramada Plaza Suites and Conference Center in downtown Pittsburgh will become a Doubletree next June, after a $12 million whole-hotel renovation. Prospera Hospitality will manage the hotel, which has 13,000 square feet of meeting space.

Spanish hotel chain Iberostar Hotels & Resorts broke ground last Friday on its first property in Jamaica: the 350-room Iberostar Rose Hall, Montego Bay. The all-inclusive resort, to feature design elements by local artists and a moderate amount of flexible meeting space, will open in 2006. In the years following, Iberostar will build two more similar-sized resorts next door. In Salvador da Bahia, on the coast of Brazil, construction on a complex of Iberostar resorts, complete with conference center, will commence before year's end.

The 193-room Sheraton Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia will close April 1, according to the Greater Philadelphia Hotel Association. Hotel management declined to comment on the reasons for the closure. Some speculate that condos will take its place.

The 413-room Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino announced Oct. 20 that it had completed a 9,100-square-foot expansion to the meeting and gaming facilities, including the new 3,100-square-foot Grand Ballroom. The meeting facilities now comprise 11,700 square feet.

Hilton International will open the 173-room Hilton Evian Resort & Spa in France. The resort, on Lake Geneva, will have a large fitness center and a private walkway connection to the town's famed spa and springs. The property will be completed in early 2006.
