Last week, the Telecommunications Industry Association announced the creation of Globalcomm, an annual communications trade show set to launch in June 2006 at Chicago's McCormick Place. "Globalcomm will bring together communications technology suppliers with service providers and enterprise users to create a converged, next-generation global telecommunications marketplace," said Matthew J. Flanigan, TIA president. Globalcomm replaces Supercomm on McCormick's schedule, which TIA had produced since 2000 in partnership with the Washington, D.C.-based United States Telecom Association. The TIA and USTA recently announced an end to that partnership after 2005, with TIA putting emphasis on Telecom, its own Las Vegas-based event.
