On Monday, the United States Telecom Association announced it will stop co-sponsoring the SUPERCOMM trade industry event with the Telecommunications Industry Association following the 2005 event. The SUPERCOMM name is jointly owned by the two associations, and the USTA says it will not buy out TIA's interest in the brand name and will not speculate on continued use of the SUPERCOMM moniker. "USTA and TIA concluded their five-year contractual relationship in 2005, and neither party was willing to extend it based on the current terms," said Tom Amontree, senior vice president of the USTA. In 2006, the USTA will cosponsor an expanded TELECOM event at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas.
