Contract negotiations continued yesterday at the Wilshire Grand in Los Angeles, where 17 laundry workers were locked out last week. According to the hotel, the lockout will remain in place until an agreement is reached with Unite HERE Local 52. Union officials say the workers -- some of whom had been with the property for 30 years -- were replaced on Thursday with nonunion employees from an outside agency. Since Saturday, union members have been passing leaflets to Wilshire Grand guests, encouraging them to ask for refunds should they experience poor towel and linen service.
