A 128-room Courtyard by Marriott will open in 2006 in Santiago, Dominican Republic. It will be the second Courtyard in the Dominican Republic and the fifth in the Caribbean. The fourth Caribbean Courtyard opens in November in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad.

The 143-room Royal Park Hotel opens for business today in downtown Rochester, Minn. The hotel features a ballroom and a 1,500-square-foot glass conservatory suitable for smaller meetings and events.

The 2,000-room Orlando World Center Marriott Resort & Convention Center last week completed a redesign of its 39,000-square-foot Crystal Ballroom. The work was part of a $100 million renovation that started in 2002 and included upgrades to guest rooms and the property's 214,000 square feet of meeting space. The hotel tentatively plans to add another 114,000 square feet of meeting space, said a spokesperson.

U.K. property firm Burford and Morgans Hotel Group (formerly Ian Schrager Hotels) are putting two London hotels, the St. Martins Lane and the Sanderson, on the market for approximately $180 million. They are to be marketed by property agent Jones Lang LaSalle.

Thistle Hotels is in negotiations to take over management of the 1,012-room Cumberland Hotel, near London's Marble Arch. The property, formerly part of the Le Meridien chain and now owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland, is slated to reopen in October, following a $166 million refurbishment.
