Egypt has two new John Sanford-designed golf courses on the horizon. Development had been interrupted in 2000 on an 18-hole course on the grounds of Taba Heights Golf Resort, a 900-acre resort property near the Israeli border that hosts a 426-room Hyatt Regency Hotel. Due to recent economic recovery in the region, however, construction has resumed and is expected to be complete by this time next year. Groundbreaking on another 18-hole course, in the Hurghada area's five-hotel Makadi Bay Golf Resort, should begin in two months.
