CONVENTION CENTERS 6-30-2004
City officials in San Jose last week postponed construction of a
temporary, fabric-covered expansion of the McEnery Convention
Center, after bids for the 80,000-square-foot structure exceeded
estimated project costs by more than $1 million. The decision -
which will require drawing up new plans for the structure over the
next four or five months - pushes back the anticipated completion
date from January to summer 2005.
