When United Airlines' low-fare carrier, Ted, begins operations to eight cities from Denver International Airport on Feb. 12, no one-way, nonstop, walk-up ticket will cost more than $309 ($299 plus a $10 fuel charge). Ted's initial routes will be to Reno, Las Vegas, Phoenix, New Orleans, Tampa, Orlando, Ontario (Calif.) and Fort Lauderdale. Denver's other local carrier, Frontier Airlines, also set a cap of $309 for walk-up tickets last week on domestic flights from Denver. According to Frontier, on average, customers will pay less than $309 one way, but they will never pay more.
