According to the Hartford Courant, the 271-room Hastings Hotel and Conference Center in Hartford, Conn., closed Dec. 30, filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection. The paper said guests at the property, which is managed by Dolce International, were given just hours to vacate their rooms.

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has assumed management of the Turnberry Isle Resort & Club in Aventura, Fla. The management switch went into effect Jan. 1, and the hotel will be reflagged the Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club, Miami, Florida, on Jan. 30. Turnberry has 392 guest rooms and 45,000 square feet of meeting space, in addition to a 25,000-square-foot spa.

On Dec. 29, the $35 million Hotel ICON opened in Houston. Managed and part-owned by Benchmark Hospitality, the 135-room property has meeting space for up to 350 and a restaurant called Bank by chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, which also will supply catering for in-house events.

The 180-room Hilton Garden Inn Indianapolis opened Monday after a $26 million renovation to the historic Fletcher Trust bank building in Indianapolis' financial district. The hotel offers 4,500 square feet of meeting space.
