The City of San Jose, Calif., is searching for a new operator for the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, as part of an effort to make it more efficient and to improve service to meeting planners. The city, which currently manages the convention center, has requested proposals from potential operators by Feb. 23. Earlier this year, the center's sales and marketing team merged with their counterparts at the San Jose CVB, and a new pricing structure was adopted to allow for heavily discounted rental fees.

The Lake George Forum, a 50,000-square-foot convention center and ice arena, opened Friday in Lake George, N.Y., 60 miles north of Albany, in the Adirondacks. The facility offers a 30,000-square-foot open space, available as a fully functional exhibit hall in April, May, June, September and October (it's used as an ice arena in winter). Two meeting rooms with 1,875 square feet of space also are available.
