New TSA Security Directive Takes Effect

The Transportation Security Administration has issued new security directives to all carriers flying into the U.S. The enhanced procedures took effect Monday, and mandate increased use of screening technology, including body scans and pat-downs, for passengers boarding U.S.-bound flights from international destinations. Of particular concern are travelers flying from or through any of the four countries identified as sponsoring terrorism (Cuba, Iran, Sudan and Syria) or additional countries that are "of interest" to the TSA (Afghanistan, Algeria, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia and Yemen).
