Abu Dhabi, the capital of United Arab Emirates, has launched a national convention agency. The Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau, part of the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority, plans to offer incentives to both association and corporate groups to boost business to the up-and-coming destination. At press time, details on those incentives had not yet been announced. In other news, the city expects to add 5,000 hotel rooms by 2015, for a total of 25,000; by 2030, the government hopes to have 80,000 guest rooms. Just this week, the 447-room Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal, opened in the city with a ballroom and 14 additional meeting rooms, three restaurants and a spa.
