people working on computersFor technology-intensive events that demand a high-speed, high-quality Wi-Fi network, it may be more cost-effective to have an independent Internet service provider set up a temporary network than to pay steep fees hotels and other venues typically charge. Key steps are knowing exactly what your group’s needs are early on, getting any Internet exclusivity clause waived during contract negotiations and shopping around for the best ISP for your event. Firms like Trade Show Internet (tradeshowinternet.com) can set up their own network at a cost of about $200 to $250 per megabit, roughly 50 to 75 percent less than most hotels or convention centers charge.
