Dublin, Warsaw Hotels Most Profitable in 2012

by Lisa A. GrimaldiFebruary 6, 2013

Warsaw and Dublin had the highest European hotel profit growth in 2012, according to a survey by TRI Hospitality Consulting. The Polish capital benefited from its role as a host of the FIFA European Championships; overall, the city's revenue per available room increased by 23 percent over 2011 figures. Dublin posted a 15 percent year-over-year increase in RevPAR; TRI attributed the boost to the lack of new hotel development and increases in demand, fueled by Ireland's temporarily reduced VAT rate (from 13.5 percent to 9 percent, running through the end of this year) in the hospitality and tourism sectors.
