Isla Palenque Luxury Resort Opens in Panama

The 16-room luxury boutique Resort at Isla Palenque opens this week in Panama, on the 400-acre private island in the Gulf of Chiriqui. The resort and residence community aims to introduce sustainable, luxury-adventure tourism to the mostly undeveloped area, which sits across the gulf from Coiba National Park, a group of 38 islands identified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The resort offers two restaurants, an infinity-edged pool, a three-quarter-mile stretch of beach, a spa, an on-site organic farm and hiking trails. Groups requiring six to 16 rooms can be accommodated, as can events for up to 30 attendees. A second phase of construction promises a marina and yacht club, a fitness center and an expanded spa.
