Three more upscale, independent hotels in the U.S. will join Marriott's Autograph Collection this spring, the lodging company announced this week. The collection's first West Coast hotels will be the 173-room Lake Arrowhead Resort & Spa, in Lake Arrowhead, Calif., and the 171-room Hotel Adagio, in San Francisco's Union Square area. The 130-room Hotel Blackhawk, in Davenport, Iowa, also will join the group. The Lake Arrowhead property, which debuts a $26 million renovation next month, offers a spa and upscale dining. The Hotel Adagio, also recently renovated, includes a penthouse level that can be bought out for events and a total 5,500 square feet of meeting space. The Hotel Blackhawk underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation in 2010 to celebrate its centennial; features include an indoor pool, a spa and a retro-chic bowling alley. Later this year, Marriott also will open its first German Autograph Collection property. The 100-year-old, 87-room Hotel am Steinplatz in Berlin has been closed since 2006 but will reopen in late 2013 following an extensive renovation. Features will include a restaurant and lobby lounge as well as a spa, a fitness room and meeting space (stay tuned for details).
