MPI Business Barometer for December 2011 Shows Improving Business

The December 2011 issue of Meeting Professionals International's Business Barometer, a bimonthly survey, shows that an additional 10 percent of industry professionals saw an increase in full-time employment in the United States and Europe since October 2011; in the U.S., 15 percent more of those surveyed reported increases in part-time and contract employment, some saying the jump was due to new employee health-care requirements. Surveying more than 300 industry professionals, the report also reveals European, Canadian and U.S. respondents are seeing slight increases in attendance over 2010 (up 1.7 percent) and in budget/spend (up 1.3 percent).
