Topi released a new mobile app by the same name this week, which fosters networking and social interaction at meetings and events. The geosocial app automatically enters registered attendees into event-specific discussions upon launch, based on the attendees' location. Topi draws profile information from Facebook and LinkedIn, allowing attendees the option of foregoing any further personal data entry, and then places them into subgroups based on details such as hometown, alma mater, job history and professional interests. With Topi's mobile app interface, participants can join public discussions as well as search for and begin private discussions with other attendees. Using a secure web interface, meeting organizers can send messages and surveys, set up multiple meeting locations, add sponsor information, assess analytics, and upload documents such as schedules and session handouts. Integration with Twitter and other social media can be configured, as well. The app, which is free to download for attendees, is available for the Apple iOS, Android and Windows Phone platforms. Pricing for conference organizers will be made public by the end of this month. A demo is available at http://vimeo.com/54752418.
