Raleigh Convention Center Begins Solar Panel Installation

by Michael C. LoweFebruary 8, 2012

A 500-kilowatt solar energy system is being installed at the 500,000-square-foot Raleigh (N.C.) Convention Center. The system will consist of 2,080 photovoltaic panels spread across about 60 percent of the convention center's roof. The system will produce an estimated 725,000 kilowatt hours of electricity and will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by around 500 tons annually, which is equivalent to the CO2 emissions of about 100 automobiles.
