by Michael C. LoweNovember 30, 2011

Los Angeles is on pace to host a record number of visitors in 2011 with a 51 percent increase in convention room bookings and a projected 16 percent increase in overseas visitors. According to the LA Inc., the city's convention and visitors bureau, the numbers will surpass the 2007 record of 25.9 million overnight visitors. Not only has downtown Los Angeles hosted three more conventions this year (20 in total) over 2010, but many of them attracted more visitors than last year, such as the Electronic Entertainment Expo, which drew 65,000 attendees, 24,000 more than in 2010.
