This past February, Key West International Airport unveiled a new terminal as part of a $31.6 million, multiphase project to modernize facilities and upgrade security and customer services. The new 30,000-square-foot structure features additional ticketing, security and baggage areas, as well as a full-service restaurant. At press time, renovations elsewhere in the airport were wrapping up. Among highlights: a 200-seat departure lounge, additional parking spaces, a new restaurant and bar, a new check-in area and added rental car options. A skyway linking the new terminal to the departure lounge in the works, as well. Future plans call for the addition of an outdoor children's park and a new wing of the facility's existing Civil War museum. www.monroecounty-fl.gov/Pages/MonroeCoFL_Airport/keywest
