Crowd-Source and Conquer

Hands raised at a business meetingCrowd-sourcing, where a group (rather than an individual) completes a task, is a great way to gather opinions, but it can take time, money and resources. At your next event, why not take advantage of having a group of peers in one place and do a quick crowd-sourcing at the end of a session? For example, if you're trying to come up with a new slogan for your meeting, have a group of 30 people or less each share two words that define the conference or organization. Jot each word down on a flip chart. Divide everyone into smaller groups of about five people each and instruct them to choose six of the previously chosen words. Each group is then instructed to report what their words were, and a dot should be placed next to each word selected. The words with the most dots can be used to create the new slogan. Thanks to Jenise Fryatt, founder of EventProv (eventprov.com) and co-owner/director of Icon Presentations, for the idea.
