The Arthur R. Outlaw Mobile Convention Center completed a $1.2 million renovation last November. The exterior of the 317,000-square-foot facility received a fresh coat of paint, and new carpeting was installed inside. Fun fact: The aforementioned carpet is laced with hidden images of Mobile's historic buildings and attractions such as City Hall, the battleship Alabama, the cannons of Fort Condé and Mardi Gras beads. In addition, beginning in November, this historic Southern city will become the home port for the 2,056-passenger Carnival Fantasy, replacing the 1,452-passenger Carnival Holiday. The Fantasy, which will enter a dry dock for a multimillion-dollar refurbishment, will sail four- and five-night itineraries throughout the Western Caribbean.
