Atlanta Eats
• Cardamom Hill (cardamomhill.net), nominated for Best New Restaurant by the James Beard foundation, features the flavors of Southwestern India. The intimate 48-seat eatery offers private dining for 12.

• Holeman & Finch Public House (holeman-finch.com), known for its hearty comfort food and inventive cocktails, is available for private events or buyouts.

• Set in a former a ham-aging house, The Optimist (theoptimistrestaurant.com) offers a classic seafood experience, from oysters (left) to whole-roasted Georgia trout.

Atlanta
The 242-room Aloft Atlanta is expected to open early next year in the former Days Inn Atlanta Downtown building. The property, currently undergoing a $25 million remodel, is Aloft's first in Georgia and features 242 guest rooms, an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center, a bar and 2,000 square feet of meeting space.

The former Hotel Midtown is now the Hyatt Atlanta Midtown. The Nobel Investment Group, which purchased the 194-room property for $415 million, plans to invest an additional $20 million in a revamp. On-site meeting space totals nearly 3,500 square feet.

The Westin Peachtree Plaza is in the midst of a $45 million renovation. The project, which will culminate next year, includes upgrades to guest rooms (and the addition of five for a new total of 1,073), hallways and dining outlets. The hotel has more than 80,000 square feet of meeting space.

Built in 1910 as a Baptist church, The Tabernacle is now a dynamic music and event space for up to 2,652 guests. Savannah
Last September, the 151-room Andaz Savannah opened in the former Avia Savannah Hotel. Highlights include several dining options, an outdoor swimming pool and approximately 4,000 square feet of function space.

Visit Savannah recently launched its new website, visitsavannah.com, featuring consumer reviews, social media feeds and an interactive map. The site was developed using responsive design, so it will seamlessly adapt for optimal viewing via laptop, mobile phone or tablet.

The Savannah City Council has approved a site on the west side of the city for a new $105 million arena. Stay tuned for details.
