Good things are happening all around this city that sits midway between Dallas and Fort Worth. To start, on Sept. 14, a groundbreaking was held for a new 100,000-square-foot convention center.

Across the nearby canal, the 421-room Omni Mandalay Hotel at Las Colinas has unveiled a new Omni spa concept, called Mokara, featuring an array of soothing treatments.

A highlight in Irving is the EDS Byron Nelson Championship, held on the two top-notch golf courses at the 397-room Four Seasons Resort & Club. Renovations to one, the TPC layout, will finish up in time for the April 2008 tournament. Forty new luxury villa rooms are on the drawing board.
