Though it’s only a few blocks from the
bustling Pike Place Market, Kimpton’s genteel 121-room Alexis
Hotel, right, feels a world away. Aspects of its past life as a
residential building are evident in the wood-burning fireplaces and
refined yet unfussy decor. Last October, the hotel completed $10
million in renovations to its rooms, lobby and meeting space (4,000
square feet).
In other news, the Sheraton Seattle,
adjacent to the Washington State Convention & Trade Center,
unveiled a new tower; the 1,258-room hotel is now the city’s
largest.
Seattle also is celebrating the grand
opening of its Olympic Sculpture Park, plus a major expansion of
the Seattle Art Museum.
