Stay Another Day in Atlantic City

With extra time in town, make sure to eat your way through the historic Ducktown District, go paddleboarding by the beach and sip creative cocktails at the new Carousel Bar.

Atlantic City

Atlantic City may best be known for its casinos, but the destination also offers a rich dining scene, bountiful beach activities and historic sites — if you know where to look. Here are five things to do after your event ends and before you head home.

Come for the convention, stay for the cuisine. Atlantic City has become a true foodie destination, and has several establishments that date back to the 1900s. Sample some of the best eats in the historic Ducktown District with On the Town Food Tours, which takes groups of up to 12 guests to local favorites, including Angelo's Fairmount Tavern, White House Sub Shop and James' Salt Water Taffy. Private tours are available upon request.

For beautiful views that won't break the bank, head to the ocean. Atlantic City's expansive beaches are open to the public at no cost. Watersports are available: Travelers can book surfing, windsurfing or paddleboarding sessions from the many shops along the boardwalk.

Put your putting skills to the test at North Beach Mini Golf. Duffers of all levels are welcome on this 18-hole course that overlooks the shoreline and Absecon Lighthouse. The newly opened, two-level course features nautical and casino-themed holes inspired by Atlantic City landmarks.

Historic Walk

Designed by acclaimed artist Larry Kirkland, the Civil Rights Garden is just off the Atlantic City Boardwalk. The sculpture park's brick path winds through seasonal plants and flowers, and eleven granite columns pay tribute to the history, events and people of the social movement of the 1950s-'60s.

End the day with a drink at the Carousel Bar at Bally's Casino. Sip on a seaside spritz or a funnel-cake martini while the bar slowly rotates 360 degrees.
