Full-Body Airport Scanners Safe, Affirms TSA

The Transportation Security Administration recently tested radiation levels of scanning machines at 15 airports, in order to verify that the machines were safe. The reports, which confirm that radiation levels fall within acceptable national safety standards, have been posted online here. To increase the organization's transparency and assuage public fears, according to the organization's blog, the TSA will post all future radiation reports online as well. "By conducting ongoing radiation tests throughout the life of the technology," the blog noted, "TSA is going above and beyond regulatory standards to ensure passengers and operators are not being exposed to excessive radiation doses."
