Gulf Coast Tourism Associations Hold Summit to Promote Travel

SouthCoast USA, a multistate association of destinations along the Gulf of Mexico, hosted a summit last week to promote travel in the region in an attempt to fend off waning visitor numbers because of the BP oil spill. Representatives from Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida attended. "Tourism is our livelihood, particularly in the summer months," said Mike Foster, vice president of marketing for the Alabama Gulf Coast Convention & Visitors Bureau and chairman of SCUSA. "The best way for Americans to help support the Gulf Coast during this difficult time is to plan a trip to the region."
