San Diego Mayor Bob Filner Signs Tourism Agreement

San Diego Mayor Bob Filner, the San Diego City Council and the Tourism Marketing District reached an agreement on the allocation of $30 million in annual marketing dollars, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. The five-year agreement will need formal council approval in about two weeks and governs how the city's Tourism Marketing District will spend funds generated from a 2 percent hotel room charge. The action ends about three weeks of contention between the mayor and the city entities; the council had voted to require the mayor to sign the document.
