Here is the latest information on some other great destinations, both in the United States and abroad.
Florida The 250-room Seminole Hard Rock Tampa opened a new 17,500-square-foot Hard Rock Cafe, attached to the casino complex, last December. The dining venue features 350 seats; an outdoor patio area; and the signature Rock Shop, which sells Hard Rock merchandise. The property has six additional dining options but no dedicated meeting space.
On the Atlantic side of the state, the 500-room Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood completed a $1.5 million renovation of its Council Oak Steaks & Seafood Restaurant. The revamp included an expansion of the wine-tasting room, a kitchen upgrade, new floors, and new furniture and décor. The property also includes nearly three acres of casino floor, 18 restaurants and lounges, 40,000 square feet of meeting space, 12 nightclubs and a 5,500-seat concert arena.
Mississippi Gulf Coast In Biloxi, the 234-room Palace Casino currently is undergoing a $42 million expansion. Upon completion, the property will include 38,000 square feet of casino space with more than 1,000 slot machines and 26 new table games. In addition, the renovation will include a new 300-seat buffet and expanded meeting space.
The nearby IP Casino (pictured right) is in the midst of a renovation of its 1,088 guest rooms and suites; work is expected to finish up in 2012. The property is remaining open during the revamp and includes more than 73,000 square feet of meeting space and 70,000 square feet of casino space.
In February, Biloxi officials approved construction of the Margaritaville Casino. The venue is expected to be completed in 2012 and will offer 500 guest rooms; a 16,000-square-foot spa; and 60,000 square feet of casino, restaurant and event space.
Less than five minutes north of Biloxi, the $450 million, 18-acre Can Can Casino Resort and French Village in D'Iberville is expected to open in 2012. Plans call for a 60,000-square-foot casino with 1,800 slots, 46 table games and 16 poker tables. The property also will offer 90,000 square feet of retail space, including restaurants, nightclubs and shopping, as well as 550 hotel rooms.
Significant to groups, the Mississippi Coast Convention Center, which opened late last year, offers 400,000 square feet of meeting and event space. The attached Mississippi Coast Coliseum, (pictured right) which opened in 1977, can accommodate an additional 15,000 attendees with 24,780 square feet of space.
On the hotel scene, the nongaming, 195-room Four Points by Sheraton Biloxi Beach Boulevard opened last year with 1,000 square feet of meeting space and a 40-seat casual restaurant serving American cuisine.
Northern California
Thunder Valley Casino,
(pictured right) just north of Sacramento in Lincoln, Calif., unveiled the new
10,000-square-foot Pano hall last September. The space can be used for
small conventions, receptions or banquets. In July 2010, the casino
completed an expansion that included a 300-room hotel, 55,000 square
feet of additional gaming space, a 12,000-square-foot day spa and a
seven-story parking garage. The 46-acre campus now has a total of
200,000 square feet of gaming space, 14 bars and restaurants, and a
boardroom that accommodates up to 16 delegates.
Macau 
Last April, the 410-room Encore at Wynn Macau (pictured right) opened as an extension to the 600-room Wynn Macau, while in June, the 213-room Mandarin Oriental Macau opened with 7,030 square feet of function space and an 8,900-square-foot spa and fitness facility.
Scheduled for the second half of 2011 are the 638-room Shangri-La Hotel Macau and the 1,223-room Traders Hotel,
both being developed by the Las Vegas Sands Corp. on the Cotai Strip.
The properties will share a 40-story tower that will include a casino, a
theater, entertainment facilities and a retail shopping mall, in
addition to 43,055 square feet of meeting space.
Also on the Cotai Strip and set to open on Nov. 1 is the Sheraton Macau,
which will include more than 4,000 rooms, seven restaurants and
lounges, two health clubs, a spa, three outdoor swimming pools and more
than 271,000 square feet of meeting facilities.
Singapore Last year brought Singapore its first two casino properties. The US$5.5 billion, 2,500-room Marina Bay Sands
opened in June with 800,000 square feet of retail space; restaurants
from celebrity chefs Mario Batali, Guy Savoy and Wolfgang Puck; and a
casino with nearly 500 table games. The Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Center
is attached to the property and offers 1.3 million square feet of
meeting space. Outdoor function space includes the bayfront Events
Plaza, which accommodates up to 10,000 people.
Southwest of the Marina Bay district, the US$4.4 billion, 121-acre Resorts World Sentosa opened in January 2010, though construction has been ongoing on several properties. Currently open are the 390-room Festive Hotel, with its 1,600-seat Festive Grande Theater; the 360-room Hard Rock Hotel Singapore, featuring 26 meeting rooms and the Compass Ballroom; the 120-room Crockfords Tower; the 470-room Hotel Michael; the 454-room Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa, (pictured right) which opened this January with 16,642 square feet of function space; and the 161,458-square-foot Resorts World Casino.
Also currently under development are the 250-acre Gardens by the Bay, which will open this year with a five-acre event lawn with a performance stage and several smaller event spaces. The International Cruise Terminal is growing too and will double the city's berth capacity from two to four ships once it opens in 2012.
