In Virginia, the new Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront Hotel is taking shape and is expected to open in March 2020. The 305-room property is on Atlantic Avenue and features waterfront views. 
The hotel aims to attract event planners with 20,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 10,000-square-foot ballroom. Outdoor events can be held on an oceanfront lawn and terrace. 

Guests will enjoy meals at a full-service, seaside restaurant that will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, in addition to an Asian-inspired rooftop bar and restaurant, Also on-site will be a fitness center and both an indoor and outdoor pool.

The new hotel is part of a $350 million master plan from hospitality management company Gold Key PHR. The goal is to create an all-in-one resort experience in Virginia Beach and includes the Historic Cavalier Hotel and Beach Club, which reopened in 2018 after an extensive four-year renovation, along with Cavalier Residences and 42 Ocean luxury condominiums. An additional hotel and restaurant are expected to open by 2022.
