Last month, the Association of Destination Management Executives presented its 2009 Achievement and Recognition awards at the organization's annual conference, which took place at the Westin Riverwalk in San Antonio.
Two individuals, Rhonda Marko, DMCP, CMP, CMM, president and CEO of Destination Nashville, and Ilene Reinhart, DMCP, CMP, partner of Access Destination Management, based in Long Beach, Calif., were named Destination Management Professionals of the Year, and Nicolas Nevares, CMP, of New Orleans-based BBC Destination Management, was recognized as the Destination Management Rising Star.
Among the DMCs honored for other achievements:
- Atlanta Arrangements, for the Best Team-Building Activity;
- Capitol Services Inc. of Washington D.C., for Best Overall Event; and
- In the category of Most Innovative Event: metroConnections of Minneapolis (working with a budget of $50,000 or less), Destination King of Memphis ($50,001 to $100,000), PRA Destination Management of Dallas/Fort Worth ($100,001 to $200,000), and Cappa and Graham of San Francisco (a budget of $200,001 or more.)
