The 240-room Fair­mont Corfu Resort & Spa, in Greece, will open in 2012 with 19,500 square feet of meeting and event space and a Willow Stream Spa. The complex also will include a beach club, a tennis academy and a marina.

Ritz-Carl­ton Hotels & Resorts took over management of the 431-room Nile Hilton in Cairo, Egypt, on Jan. 1 and renamed it the Nile Hotel, Cairo. After an 18- to 24-month restoration, it will be renamed The Ritz-Carlton, Cairo. The hotel has 10 meeting rooms.

The Incentive Research Founda­tion has named former Maritz executive Rodger Stotz chief research officer. He will oversee surveys and polls for the New York City-based organization.

An association of Destination Man­agement Execu­tives survey shows that more than half the respondents (49 in total) expect their volume of business to decrease in 2009. The poll, conducted via e-mail, also revealed DMC members' concerns over the recent increase in third-party firms that now offer destination management services.
