Vintner wannabes who sip and think, “I
can do better,” now have the chance to try in classes at the
654-room Phoenician in Scottsdale, Ariz. Up to 12 people can take
wine-making lessons in the Praying Monk, the resort’s private wine
cellar.
Master sommelier Greg Tresner instructs participants as they
mix and match tastes from barrels of Bordeaux varietals such as
cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot. Once the flavor is
just right, each creation is bottled and decorated with a
personalized label.
The Praying Monk also is available for private dinners of up to
16 people. (480) 423-2530;
