Virgin America, a new
entrant in the low-cost airline category, has been awarded domestic
air rights by the Department of Transportation. The carrier plans
to launch its inaugural route, San Francisco to New York’s John F.
Kennedy International Airport, this year and expand to 10
destinations by year’s end.
The Woodlands, Texas,
has created a convention and visitors bureau to advertise, brand
and promote its Town Center Improvement District as a meetings
destination.
The U.S. Environ-mental
Protection agency announced that planners for the
government agency must now use a 14-point environmental checklist
to determine where they place meetings. The agency estimates it
spends
$50 million annually on travel and meetings.
The national business Aviation
association has been forced to move its 2008 annual
convention from New Orleans to Orlando due to hurricane damage to
Lakefront Airport, which was slated to be the site of the NBAA’s
Static Display.
